Dropwell is a Mac app made and sold by ELEGANT TECH LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app, this website and our checkout handle, and why. The short version: your files never leave your Mac, and we collect only what we need to sell you a license and support it.

The Dropwell app
Your files stay on your Mac
Dropwell reads, checks and saves your bank statements, forms, photos and other files on your Mac. It never uploads a file, a page, a row, a file name or anything read from a file. Your details for filling forms and your signatures are stored in your Mac's Keychain and on your Mac only.
The only network requests the app makes
| Request | When | What it sends |
|---|---|---|
| License activation | When you enter a license key on a Mac | Your license key, a hashed machine ID and the Mac's name |
| License deactivation | When you choose Deactivate this Mac | Your license key and the same hashed machine ID |
| Update check | From time to time, and when you choose Check for Updates | The app's version |
The hashed machine ID is a one-way fingerprint made from your Mac's hardware ID with a value only Dropwell uses. It lets us count your Macs against your license, and it cannot be turned back into the hardware ID. The Mac's name (for example "Studio MacBook Air") is kept so you and our support can tell your Macs apart.
Like every request on the internet, these requests carry your IP address. We use it only to answer the request and to limit abuse, and we do not store it with your license.
The app has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting that sends data to us.
Things macOS does for you
When you share a file with Mail, AirDrop or Messages, macOS sends it, not Dropwell. If you turn on the AI connection, the AI app you connect (for example Claude Desktop) receives the answers Dropwell's tools give: file names, results and masked previews, never your details, your tax IDs or the numbers Dropwell finds. What that app does with them is covered by its own privacy terms.
This website
getdropwell.com uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts or fonts. The pricing page asks our server how many founding spots are left; that request carries nothing about you.
Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page requested, time and browser type) for up to 30 days, for security, and then deletes them. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which passes requests to our server and may process IP addresses to protect the site from attacks.
Buying a license
Payments are processed by Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe's checkout page, and they go to Stripe, never to us. Stripe's use of your information is described in the Stripe Privacy Policy.
From Stripe we receive your email address, your name if you give one, your country and postal code (for tax), the plan you bought, the amount and Stripe's references for the payment.
How we use your email address
- To send your license key and your receipts.
- For Yearly, to remind you 7 days before each renewal.
- To send the one-time link you ask for on the Manage subscription page.
- To answer you when you write to us.
- Product news, only if you ticked "Send me product news" at checkout. Every news email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to us to stop it.
Your email address is your identity with us: there are no accounts and no passwords. We send email through an email delivery provider that handles addresses on our behalf only to deliver our messages.
What we keep, and for how long
- License record: email address, plan, number of Macs, purchase and update dates, the key, Stripe's payment references and, for each activated Mac, its hashed machine ID, its name and the activation date. We keep it for as long as the license exists, and after that only as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Support email: as long as needed to help you, and then deleted.
- Web server logs: up to 30 days.
Our service logs record events and counts, never email addresses, keys, machine names or IDs.
What we never do
We do not sell or rent personal information, share it for advertising, or build profiles of you. We share it only with the providers named here (Stripe, our email delivery provider and our hosting providers) to run the service, or when the law requires it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to hello@getdropwell.com from your checkout email. Deleting a license record means we can no longer resend your key or move it to a new Mac. You can stop product news at any time.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we handle your information to perform our contract with you (delivering and supporting your license), for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure, to meet legal duties such as tax records, and with your consent for product news. You may complain to your local data protection authority. If you live in California, you have the right to know, delete and correct your personal information, and we do not sell or share it.
Children
Dropwell and this website are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Where information is handled
We are based in the United States. Our providers may handle information in the United States and other countries, under their own safeguards.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we will email customers before it takes effect.
